Posted by

Recipe inspiration strikes at different times. Sometimes we're trying to recreate a loved meal from our childhood, other times we're just looking to clean out the fridge. But today's recipe for steamed bass with chowder sauce came to be simply by taking a stroll through our local farmer's market and nabbing what looked fresh. An ear of corn, some zucchini, and a heap of clams later, and our full meal started to come together. This light and fragrant meal is perfect for these between-season days, so try it out before fall takes over for good!

Ready to start cooking? Here's what you'll need to make this meal:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 small yellow onion, minced
3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
Coarse salt and pepper
1/2 pound Yukon Gold potatoes peeled, and cut into medium dice
1 1/4 cups chicken broth
2 cups corn kernals (from 2 ears)
1 small zucchini, halved and cut 1/4-inch thick
12 small little neck clams, scrubbed
Four 4-ounce skinless striped bass fillets (1-inch thick)
Basil leaves, for serving
