Today's Recipe: Barbecued Chicken

Posted by

What's one motto we believe in here at Everyday Food? Never let a little mess get in the way of making a great recipe. Today's barbecued chicken is a perfect example of a stellar dish that might require a multi-napkin clean-up. Dripping with flavor, this low-maintenance barbecue sauce comes together in just a few minutes (and we bet you already have most of the ingredients needed to make it right in your fridge!). We also love that this tangy and sweet main course can be made in the oven or on the grill -- which means you can enjoy this summery meal on any night of the week.

Are you ready to start basting? Here's what you'll need:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup light-brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 cut-up chicken (3 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
