Today's Recipe: Caramelized Pears

This very seasonal dessert combines the wonderful tastes of pears, brown sugar, and vanilla in one toe-curling mouthful. Top it with a scoop (or two) of ice cream or enjoy the whole thing on its own. It has fruit so it's guilt free, right? Make it for your valentine tomorrow—even if you're your own date. And if you're feeling particularly crazy, try this recipe with apples.

    Now that I am retired from professional cooking, I have time to try lots of new and different things for my newly retired husband. This is definitely a keeper. The only change I would make is I would peel the pears since the skins made it a bit harder to eat. My husband said it was "really good" which is profuse praise from him (it's usually ok, fine or maybe an occassional good). It's quick and easy to prepare and disappears quicker than it was to fix it. I can't wait to try it on special company. Thanks Sarah for bringing it to my attention. I really enjoy your videos. Brings back the comraderie I miss from the professional kitchen.
