Leafy greens are one of those foods with an indisputably great reputation. They may seem delicate, but science shows that greens are serious fighters! Read on for three great reasons to get behind today's double-dose of greens

  1. Reduce your risk of diabetes.One study found that eating one and a half extra servings of green leafy vegetables a day reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 14%.
  2. Stay sharp as you age.Research at Brigham and Women's Hospital found that women who ate eight servings of leafy green vegetables a week showed less cognitive decline between the ages of 60 and 70 than did women who ate just three servings.
  3. Battle breast cancer. According to a study from Vanderbilt University, women who ate cruciferous vegetables (leafy greens, broccoli, and cabbage) had a lower risk of recurrence.
