Everyone in the test kitchen knows how much I love pears. I could go on and on about their wonderful flavor, scent, and versatility. My boss Sarah just shakes her head when I pitch yet another pear recipe. But, I couldn't resist.
These broiled beauties make such a tasty, comforting breakfast. Try it and I know you'll agree with me: Pears are where it's at!
Broiled Pears with Yogurt and Walnuts

1 ripe Bartlett Pear, halved and cored

2 teaspoons sugar
3/4 cup plain yogurt
2 teaspoons honey
1/4 teaspoon cardamom or cinnamon
2 tablespoons toasted walnuts, coarsely chopped
1. Heat broiler, with rack 4 inches from heat. Spread butter and sprinkle sugar on cut side of pears. Set on a rimmed baking sheet and broil until pears are slightly softened and sugar is caramelized, 6 to 8 minutes.

I love, love, love this idea for a winter breakfast. The broiling is the perfect way to really bring out the flavor without the extra calories.

I have a bowl of Comice pears that will be delicious in this recipe. Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow.
