These pressure cookers are great and every kitchen should have at least one of them. No need to soak your beans anymore. Use less expensive cuts of meat and get delicious results. But...please do not attempt to pressure fry in a pressure cooker like this one, as it is highly dangerous. You need a special pressure fryer for that purpose.

  • avatar

    I want one!!!!!!

  • avatar

My daughter would love this pressure cooker - hope I win :)

I had an old pressure cooker that I used to make unbelievably tender beans in no time at all (they were as soft as "refried" beans with no frying required!), but, unfortunately, I have not been able to find replacement seals for this discontinued brand.

  • avatar

I have always wanted a pressure cooler but been afraid to try one on my own!

  • avatar

I love pressure cooking. It is so fast and so convienient. I love it so much I have worn 2 of them out already so I hope that my comment is chosen! My mom was basically a single mom with 4 daughters, who worked 40+ hours a week. With a pressure cooker she could always have a great dinner prepared in no time. Even though it's fast, the smells of dinner cooking was always fabulous and looked and tasted as though she spent all day in the kitchen preparing the meals, never failing to please all. It was a family life-saver for sure!

  • avatar

Always thought it was something a bit medieval....would love to try it out some time!

  • avatar

I'm so glad that pressure cookers are being reintroduced. I used one when I was first married that was big and scary and passed down from my grandmother when she went to the nursing home. It was bulky and rattled and clanked and appeared ready to blow up at any moment. But, the food results were always amazing. I used it for canning as well. I never replaced it,but am very interested to compare a new version!!

  • avatar

I love to cook & I cooking with pressure cookers reduces time needed for many of my recipes. I'm in the market to but a new one as my old one (gotten from my grandmother) is pretty old when I saw this sweepstakes. I would love to get a new pressure cooker so I'll keep my fingers crossed :-D

  • avatar

I love using my pressure cooker to cook traditional St. Patricks day dinner, starting with the brisket then the all the veggies. takes about 1 hour from start to finish. The brisket comes out so tender and juicy. the veggies, carrots, onions, potatoes and cabbage come out of the pot perfectly cooked. But I need a new pressure cooker as my cooker is old now and the rubber gasket is becoming a little bit stiff and brittle, can't bear to part with the pot. But is not real safe to use. Hope I win a new pressure cooker.

  • avatar

I would love to win this prsesure cooker, mine is broken and I am lost without it.
    Thanks for this opportunity.

  • avatar

I would have to entirely change my kitchen approach without my pressure cooker! The one I have though I got at a yard sale for $5 and was mfg'd in the early 50's (I called Presto and checked via the serial number on the bottom). Still works fine but lacks any of the modern safety features.

  • avatar

  • avatar

Being able multi-tasking by working from home. pressure cooker is my best tool to provide warm home meals at table for family. Kids were always wonder what's in the magic pot. My old pressure cooker is retired because the valve broken and is dangerous to use. I miss the pressure cooker, it has made my life easy and brought good memories for my family.

  • avatar

Fagor has a good reputation. I have a Presto that is at least 30 years old that belonged to my mother. Pressure cooking is a true time saver especially when you work outside of the home, come back exhausted and need a home cooked meal in a short amount of time.

I would love to have an updated pressure cooker and have heard great things about the Fagor brand. My cooking with pressure cookers is very limited after witnessing one blow up when I was younger I have always been apprehensive to use them. The few times I have tried the results have always been outstanding and remarkably fast! This would definitely help get healthy dinners on the table faster for my family.

My daughter and her husband are expecting their third child within the next 6 weeks. I would love to win a pressure cooker for her. She works from home, but money is very tight for them. If I could have one for her, we would be a third generation pressure cooker family. This would not only save her time, but money too, as she would be able to cook more from scratch. In addition, it could also aid in keeping the children healthy, because veggies cooked in a pressure cooker come out so tender, I am sure they would eat their greens. YUM.

  • avatar

Last time I used a pressure cooker was thirty years ago.I learned when I was on the rice diet in Durham North Carolina and not just for rice. We cooked everything in it. It was the best, moist and juiciest I have ever tasted. One day the rubber rim on the cover wore out and the pot sort of exploded. LOL! I really miss it. I'm sure they have perfected them by now. Happy steaming.

I even hid behind a pantry or cabinet door the first couple of times I used mine. I understand that the new ones are much improved, quieter and user friendly too. I use it regularly and I truly would need a new one.......!

  • avatar

Last week I prepared the Shrimp & Herb Risotto recipe from the September, 2012 Everyday Food magazine - it was really good but it sure would have been easier to prepare if I had a Pressure Cooker!

  • avatar

Grew up in the 60's and 70's with my mother using the old school, rattling, hissing pressure cookers. Only once did that thing explode while canning green beans, leaving burns on her arms (not permanent, thank goodness) and a big impression on me. It did not, however, dampen my excitement over garadening and making preserves for my own family as an adult! Would love to own a pressure cooker of my very own!

  • avatar

My friend and I love to get together to cook meals for guests and always try to learn how to make something new. One time she planned the menu and timed our meal preparation, but confused a recipe that called for a pressure cooker with the appliance she owned...a slow cooker. We have a lot to learn! These recipes look delicious!

  • avatar

Just hearing about this giveaway. As a working wife and caregiver to my Mom, a pressure cooker would be a godsend of a blessing.

  • avatar

My mom had a pressure cooker she received as a wedding present in 1947. It was aluminum and had a weighted piece on top to regulate the pressure. We used it mostly for cooking corn on the cob. My mom was always a bit skittish about using it, especially around us kids. I have been wanting to purchase a pressure cooker to see what kind of results I can get with various recipes.

  • avatar

Can;t wait for one of my favorite seasons, Fall, with soups, stews and wonderful comforting hearty meals. A pressure cooker would be ideal to make these meals a little more convenient time wise. Good luck to all!

  • avatar

Seeing lots of great PC recipes this fall.

  • avatar

I think a slow cooker would be a great tool of encouragement for me to stick with cooking, in addition to using Everyday Food's super easy recipes. Additionally, I became more excited by the potential of incorporating a slow cooker after seeing it used on Master Chef last night, to wow the judges, and win the competition for the contestant who used it!

  • avatar

Sounds like a great way to cook!

  • avatar

Being a single mom (of two very rambunctious young boys) AND a full-time nursing student, dinnertime is ALWAYS tough! I usually want to take the easy way out and microwave something frozen for my kids. :/ I would LOVE to have a quick/easy way to cook healthy meals for my boys that does not involve the very limited options (and possible overcooking) that the slow-cooker leaves me. A pressure-cooker would be just the thing! I would be able to control my children's diets and keep them eating healthy as well as save precious time!

  • avatar

Would love this for my new gluten-free rice needs!

  • avatar

So hard to balance work and family! I've been nervous to leave a slow cooker plugged in while I'm not home -- but a pressure seems like a super efficient way to get a healthy dinner on the table when I'm under time constraints!

  • avatar

Way back, I had a Presto Pressure Cooker. I used it all the time until there were no more gaskets sold in stores. Then it was converted to my heavy pot that I used all the time until the handle fell off (nail holding it rusted off). I still use it once in a while with caution, because I need to pick it up with oven mitts now to carry it. Would love to have a new pressure cooker.

  • avatar

I have a very old 4 quart pressure cooker, that isn't working properly. I love using it, but it's getting frustrating trying to cook in it. My favorite recipe to cook in it is stuffed peppers. Everybody always asks for the recipe, and I tell them they have to have a pressure cooker to make it.

  • avatar

When we were first married, we received a Presto Pressure Cooker. I used it all the time until they stopped selling the gaskets in the stores. Then it was converted into my heavy pot that I used all the time until the handle fell off (nail holding it rusted thru). Now I still use it, but with caution, due to having to pick it up with two oven mitts to carry it. I would love to have a new pressure cooker.

My family is constantly giving me flack about NOT having dinner ready when I said it would be! It's nothing I do on purpose, things just take me longer than I expect. Having a pressure cooker would be fun to learn to use and may be helpful for my family eating at more reasonable hours!!

  • avatar

I would love to have the opportunity to try and use a pressure cooker again. My mother always used one and in fact every Sunday would cook the afternoon meal and have ready when we returned from Church. My siblings often speak of those comfort meals and never seem to get the same taste cooking in oven. Also in these current times and expenses, to be able to use cheaper cuts of meats to slow cook a meal would be a great help.

  • avatar

I spend hours soaking my beans before a meal, which takes more forethought than I usually have available as a college student. Having a pressure cooker would make my life so easier--not to mention insure I have a good quality meal more often than not.

  • avatar

I have been wanting one for a long time but they are too expensive with my husband out of work after 17 years. We now live with my 92 year old Father in Law who doesn't eat beef because I can't get it tender enough for him to chew without cooking the flavor out of it! I think being able to get a well cooked meal on the table in less time would benefit us all. I especially want to try the short rib recipe. Thanks, Debbie

  • avatar

i do most of my canning in a large pressure canner/cooker. would enjoy a small one to prepare meals

  • avatar

I had pressure cooker when my children were growing up.

Years ago, my m-i-l gave me an old pressure cooker when she was cleaning out her garage. I experimented with it and discovered I loved it! It was an old aluminum model, and I eventually bought a stainless one that looked a lot nicer. My favorite thing to cook in the pressure cooker is risotto -- so fast, and no having to hover nearby to keep adding broth and stirring.

Now with this blog and all the recipe links, I will have more recipes to add to my repertoire. :)

  • avatar

I would like to try a pressure cooker, however I will tell the truth and let you know I would be a little scared. I guess I envision the top blowing off and whatever I am cooking landing on the ceiling. I know things have changed and they are much safer now than they use to be. I can salsa, spaghetti sauce, ketchup and this year I pickled hot peppers. I would like to try pressure cooker canning as well.

Years ao, when I was in college, four of us decided to go to my roommate's home in Juarez, Mexico. My roommate's parents went out and left us in charge of dinner and three younger siblings, none of which spoke English. My friend Eric, decided to make his famous spaghetti. He put a large amount of water in a pressure cooker. I had never used one before. As college students would do, Eric and Helen got in a psuedo-fight and when the pressure cooker went off, Eric's glasses were covered with butter. He yelled to me to 'Pop the pressure cooker!' Which I did. I went over and pulled the handles apart and the thing blew boiling water all over me and the kitchen! I haven't used one since (43 years). I would love to give one another try!

I have never used a pressure cooker before and this would be the perfect time to start using it. My husband and I both wake up at 4am to get to work by 6am, we just found out we are pregnant. Since we suffered 2 miscarriages previously, I have to take it extremely easy and try not to stress out. Waking up so early I don't always remember to take something out of the freezer! This would take the pressure off of me by allowing me to still make a healthy (baby friendly) meal in a fraction of the time when I do get home from work.

My mother always canned with a pressure cooker, and she would cook whole meals in them. I remember the most often prepared were the roast beef dinners and soup beans that she cooked in them. She could fix these meals in less than half the time it would take her to fix them conventionally. The meat would be more tender and the soup beans never caused the after effects when prepared this way. My mother passed away last year but this is one of the many memories I have of her.

  • avatar

When I retired and moved I didn't take my pressure cooker that I had had for over 40 years. Big mistake. Retired doesn't mean having all the time in the world to cook. Sometimes the desire for a special recipe comes with little time to prepare it. I still love cooking and would love to have the new pressure cooker that has been updated since my model was made. I can't wait to try my recipe for white beans with roasted tomatoes and onions again.

I actually just went to hang out with my Grandfather and was going through some amazing nostalgic stuff in the basement with him and came across Grandma's old pressure cooker! He offered to let me take it, but it was missing a part, so it un-usable, much to my disappointment...

I am also an avid cook (and baker) but with all the kitchenware and gadgets I have accumulated I never did buy a pressure cooker. I wouldn't mind winning one!

Ever since hearing about my mother's childhood memory of being scalded by 1950's pressure cooker, I've been too scared to use one. But one look at this state-of-the-art Fago pressure cooker inspires me to want to give it a try. I'm an urban gardener who loves to cook, but with two active children and a two-career household I don't have as much as time as I'd like to prepare healthy, appealing meals. I think a pressure cooker might be just what this busy family who loves good food needs!

  • avatar

Please DON'T use a pressure cooker like my late mother-in-law: she killed broccoli in it! No wonder her son hated vegetables! My grandma taught me and my sister how to preserve cherries and tomatoes in Mason jars in her pressure cooker, and how to make a variety of relishes and jams from the summer bounty of her garden. I've had 2 pressure cookers, a Rival and a Farberware, and both of them were swiped by (definitely EX) boyfriends! They both really liked my Navy bean soup; I hope they learned something. I'd surely appreciate a replacement for the pressure cooker, NOT the boyfriends!

  • avatar

I had a very old pressure cooker and used it for years. It finally bit the dust, and I'd love a replacement!

I've had two pressure cookers and loved them both--until they exploded. I should really say the little steam release thing actually popped out and back into the cooker. At any rate, bye-bye pressure cookers. Although I loved you both, I am ready to replace you with a friendly pressure cooker that wouldn't get so steamed up, ascend into a frenzy and become volcanic, only to die a quick death into dysfunction. This little Fagor 6-quart pressure cooker would be a great addition to my small family of me and two cats.

  • avatar

I have read about how great pressure cookers are. It sure would be great to have one.

My mother used a pressure cooker for the majority of our meals. I am the youngest of 10 children, and this was our way of life. Now that we all have grown up, I moved her in with me due to her health. She recently passed away and I love the cooker -but, I have or been able to use it , it is an older version and I am afraid of its seals! I love how tender it makes meat and how quick it makes dinner. I would love a newer model to continue to spoil my family as she did hers.

  • avatar

I would love to have a pressure cooker. I have the best memories of visiting my grandparents and watching my grandmother throw a roast in the pressure cooker and have a huge meal done in less than an hour, or making "leftovers soup" from the excess in the fridge. When she passed away, we got the pressure cookers, but I just didn't trust them. I was there when the top blew off one of them and put a huge hole in the ceiling, so a new one would be lovely and a wonderful way to recreate the recipes I have from her that can only be made in a pressure cooker.

  • avatar

  • avatar

I have used pressure cookers my whole life - both of my parents used them and passed recipes on to me. I also use a large pressure canner to preserve my home grown foods, as well as fish and meats. We use canned ground beef, when camping and at our cabin - it doesn't have to be refrigerated and you can add seasoning and onions, celery, etc. before canning so you don't have to add it later. If I have a small amount of tomatoes in my garden, I can use a regular canner to preserve 5 or 6 pints at a time. One of my favorite meals I make in a pressure cooker is Stuffed Green Peppers. The flavors blend so well, and it's so much quicker than the oven method. One reason I would like to win this pressure cooker is that I've only used older models. The newer ones have advanced safety features and seem as though they would be much easier to keep clean. Thanks!

I would love to have a pressure cooker ! I remember as a child my mother fixing dinner with one. My favorite meal was pot roast ! I always through I would have it passed down to me, but unfortunately it was lost in a move. Having one now would be great because of the many meals I could fix in a much shorter time !

What was old is new again! I remember my grandmother cooking with a pressure cooker when I was little. This sure brings back happy memories! I've been wanting to get one and try cooking with one, just wish Grama was still here to guide me through her recipes.

I had grown up with having one pressure cooker in my family for 5 members. and when I went into the college, I was taught that how pressure cooker saves two-third of the gas for cooking than from open-lid vessel, and also it saves on electricity bill by one half than comparing to electric rice cooker.
my best recipe using cooker is " smash mix veg" . all you have to do add peel potatos, cabbage, cauliflower, and green peas. once pressure cook for three whistles, open it and smashed them all in cooker. in other pan, heat little oil and fry cut onions to golden brown and add tomato puree, salt, few drops of lemon juice, turmeric powder, (pepper powder-- optional) and the smash veg to mix them all and cook it for few minutes... to taste the delicious Smash mix Veg.

I've been wanting a decent pressure cooker since I lived in Brazil. I saw a lot of home cooks there who used the pressure cooker daily for all kinds of things, especially black beans and pork recipes.
