With so many store-bought salad dressings available, it might not seem necessary to make it yourself, but once you see how easy and inexpensive a DIY dressing is, you'll never go back to the bottled stuff again. Memorize one easy ratio and a few simple steps and you can improvise a homemade dressing anytime, anywhere, with the ingredients you already have on hand—no measuring required.

I love making vinaigrettes it can completely overpower a salad especially the shop brought ones! I am a balsamic vinger and oil or lemon juice fan just keep it simple! I saw this great salad idea though with peaches here! http://www.amazine.com/story/806452

Nice idea to use glass jar to help with ratio. I tried making enough to keep as a salad dressing base for the week and then I can shake it up and pour a bit in a smaller jar to mix with different spices, fruit or sun dried tomatoes, depending on what I am in the mood for that night! Working out great and, with the base already prepared, it's so easy to be creative each night. Thanks for the idea!
