cocktail o'clock: Corpse Reviver #3

Posted by

The "Corpse Reviver" cocktails were first published in 1930 in the Savoy Cocktail Handbook, and were created to be hangover cures. This version is our summery addition to the family, using newly released Lillet Rose in place of Lillet Blanc, which is used in the Corpse Reviver #2. We added just a splash of orange juice as well to make it just a little more drinkable, in fact, we found it to be so refreshing we would order it any time-- not just as a "hair of the dog" cure.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 1 ounce gin, 1 ounce Cointreau or orange liqueur, 1 ounce Lillet Rose, 1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice, and 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass with an absinthe rinse (put a small amount of absinthe in the glass, and rotate at an angle to coat inside of glass). Garnish with an orange peel.
