it's national tequila day!

Posted by

Hey party people! It's time to get down with these fresh summer tequila drinks. Just in case you need an excuse, today is National Tequila Day. Our Assistant Editor, Jessie, has been anticipating this day and has come up with a couple of simple and delicious cocktails to sip al fresco. So, come on! Show some love for Mexico's most popular spirit.

Here in the test kitchen, we are documented fans of the Paloma. We whipped this one up with silver tequila, grapefruit San Pellegrino, and a lime wheel.

Or for something a little more special, try one of Jessie's basil margaritas. In a cocktail shaker, muddle a handful of fresh basil, 2 wedges lemon, and 2 teaspoons sugar. Add 2 ounces silver tequila, 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1/2 ounce Cointreau, and fill with ice. Shake well and pour into a salt-rimmed glass:

As always, share with friends!

What are your favorite tequila drinks?

Oh Maaaaaaan! I'm always SO BUMMED when I get to my RSS feeds and read at the end of the day what today's holiday was! I wish you could post them the day before - I would TOTALLY have celebrated National Tequila Day today!
