Everyday Food App upgrade!

Posted by

Great news—our new and improved iPhone app was released today. This is not a little tweak—more like a major revamp. As always, you can search through our huge library of recipes, but now you can narrow down the results by ingredient, dish, or cooking time (useful if you're looking for a main course, starring chicken, that can be ready in 30 minutes, for example). You can save your favorites, or build organized shopping lists based on the recipes you want to cook. There are also how-to videos that cover all the kitchen basics. If you already own the app, this upgrade is automatic: check for upgrades on your phone and it should load right away. Here's the link to download, and if you're using the app, PLEASE tell us what you think!

Any thoughts of an app for the Android market?

  • avatar Author Comment:

We are working on it and would very much like to have one for all the droid users.

Love the upgrades. Love the app. Thank you so much.

Seconding the request for an app for the Android market, but it'd be lovely if there was a way to get it discounted or even free if we own it for another platform. I love Everyday Food, but as a poor college student it'd be fantastic to not have to pay full price for it twice if I buy it for (say) my iPod and then later there's an Android app (which I'd much prefer!).

I use this app EVERY day so I have a lot of favorites, but I think they're not alphabetized any longer on the upgrade?? Love the shopping list by recipe or combined, the large photos, recipe shuffle (are the courses random or compimentary?) Can't wait to start using!

I would love to have an app for my android phone. I will keep checking.

I downloaded the updated app last night. I love the new look and the recipe shuffle. Its a great improvement from the last version of the app. However it crashed several times.

Where is a new "Today's Recipe?" We haven't had dinner since May! I joke... but seriously.

I think it looks GREAT! And really fantastic, easy, yummy, whole-food kind of recipes that work.

BUT, I read in my Everyday Food Mag that "[it] has a calendar for menu planning"...WHERE IS THAT FUNCTION? Am looking, looking for it and can't find it anywhere. I see a weekly calendar shot under "DinnerTonight" but what is stated on pg 6 of the mag is that I can plan my menus via a calendar, not be provided with a PREplanned set of weekly dinner ideas. Please tell me I can do this!!

    Also, it crashes, still. Annoying.

I love the new app. The "Recipe Shuffle" feature is a fun way to put a meal together, in addition to all the other great upgrades. My only suggestion would be to add a "meatless" option to the choices in the recipe finder.
    Thanks for a great product!

I agree with the other comments. You MUST make this available to the Android market.

I check everyday to see what I might be making for dinner.
The upgrade is great but I miss my saved recipes.

Are all the recipes found in the magazine, on the app?

  • avatar

Hi Martha, Please, please, please make the Everyday Food Index available as an android app. I will not be the only subscriber who would be happy, happy, happy.

  • avatar

However smart the program, I simply cannot get over the advertisements on this app! How can Martha justify pimping products to fans that have PAID for the application? I suppose that's why she is filthy rich and we are not. It just leaves such a bad taste (no pun intended).

I just changed from the iPhone to a droid phone (samsung Infuse4) and I'm crushed there is no app!!! I NEED my recipes. PLEASE make an app for droid users. Thanks -

just downloaded app and it doesnt open ...crashes upon opening...whats up with that.

The shopping list changes are a big disappointment. One can no longer set up the catagories according to the store layout. One can no longer change the catagory of an incorrectly catagorized item. This morning it put "calcium" in the "Drinks" catagory.
Additionally, one can no longer remove the checked items from the list as a group. Must remove each item one by one by one. What happened? Can these items be put back. Overall these changes have made the shopping list function useless.

I loved this app until yesterday when I updated iTunes, iOS and my Everyday Foods app. Now it crashes/closes every time I touch the screen to display any recipe.

    Please fix soon!

Any ideas on when we can expect the android apps?

  • avatar

yes for the kindle fire too

  • avatar

App no longer works after loading main screen. Using latest version of iOS and iTunes.

  • avatar

Yes, an app for Android tablets would be much much much appreciated! :D

Can't use this app because it keeps on crashing. This has been going on for ages...PLEASE fix it!

Another android request from a happy Everyday Food subscriber!

    Android App!

  • avatar

I have been an Everyday Food Magazine subscriber from the beginning! Not all of us can afford to have an iphone...i'm a stay at home mom! Android App please!!!

  • avatar

This app hasn't worked for months. With Martha's emphasis on perfection, I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed. I'm also surprised it doesn't have an true iPad component. Still love the magazine but the app is a serious disappointment.

  • avatar

Did y'all ever do an Android app?

  • avatar

You need to take the app off the market since it no longer works.

  • avatar

Have this on my iPhone, but i also have and Android Tablet. When is an Android version going to be available. Android has now taken over the market share from iPhone.

  • avatar

I would also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE an Android app! Pretty Pease with some incredible Martha Stewart creation on top! :) I got a pop-up, but have never submitted this comment before??? Maybe someone else with the same name? Not sure, but this is the first time I have submitted a comment :/
