at the market: west coast edition
Posted by Merritt Watts
What is at your local farmers market now? In New York City it's still mostly potatoes, apples, carrots and turnips, so I was loving my trip to the Claremont Farmers & Artisans Market in Southern California earlier this month—here are some snapshots of the bounty out west.
1 Grapefruit is a good bet this time of year. Love it when it is all cut up and ready for sampling!
2 Tangerines, guavas, and blood oranges, oh my!
3 Ruby red strawberries
4 Apples, kumquats, and cherimoyas.
5 More samples: Pears, tiny cucumbers and more citrus.
6 Guava shopping tip - look for one that's yellow; our green one wasn't quite ripe enough.
