    I have to comment. My number one pet peeve is when taco recipes advise softening corn tortillas in an oven, microwave, or direct gas flame to make them pliable. Despite their appearance, corn tortillas are not fully cooked when you buy them. They need to be dipped in hot oil to complete the cooking so they won't taste mealy. Whether making soft or crisp shells, enchiladas, chips or even casseroles, all corn tortillas need some frying to taste right...to taste cooked. If trimming calories is your goal, you're better off choosing another ethnic food and skip Mexican altogether.
