the coolest iced tea

Posted by

Sometimes it feels like we live in the tropics. But no, that's just backyard Brooklyn.

Heatwave after heatwave after heatwave. What's a girl to do? This iced tea has become a major part of my heat-busting strategy (in addition to lukewarm showers and talcum powder). Read on for the recipeI start with two handfuls of sliced ginger in a teapot with a few tablespoons of peppermint tea leaves. Then I add boiling water and let it steep 10 minutes—the infusion is very strong and concentrated at that point, but gets diluted when poured over a big pitcher of ice. Sweetened with sugar, agave, or maple syrup, this refreshing concoction has been keeping me cool every day for about a month so far . . . with no end in sight.
