My new weeknight secret weapon: Stuzzichella. It's a mild sauce (more of a spread really) made from a blend of eggplant, olives, artichokes, mushrooms, peppers, extra virgin olive oil and herbs. I've tossed it with hot pasta, stirred it into vegetable soups, and mixed it with olive oil for dipping crusty bread but my favorite way to eat it is with crackers and cheese.

I found it at an Italian specialty market but Tutto Calabria also makes a delicious hot pepper spread (and I do mean HOT) and I found that at amazon. Check your local specialty food market, or possibly near the canned tomatoes in your supermarket. Good luck!
