A few years ago, I started making granola based on a recipe from Kathleen Daelemans (and haven't bought a store brand since). The recipe is so simple, as you just dissolve brown sugar in water in the microwave, toss the sugar syrup with rolled oats and nuts, then bake. Once it's out of the oven, you can add dried fruit. What I love about the recipe is that it's so easy to customize: I add spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg to the sugar syrup. I never use the same nut or dried fruit—it's whatever I have in my lazy Susan. My favorite dried fruit combo is cherries, apricots, and cranberries. I even added chocolate chips to the mix once, to take to the movies. I reuse the dried fruit and nut containers to store the mixture, and then give it out as presents. What's your favorite granola recipe?
