We work about 6 months ahead of schedule here at Everyday Food. That means that in the heat of summer I was drumming up ideas for warming winter soups. I had just started in the test kitchen and it was my very first assignment. We always take pictures of the recipes we're developing so we can keep track of what we've done. We liked this picture of the sausage, lentil and kale soup so much that we ended up building the story's photography and layout around it.
