I bring my lunch to work to save money, and to assure myself that my lunch is fresh, tasty, and allergen-free--but a food thermos isn't appropriate for everything. So I've found a great way to safely carry delicate produce--cherry tomatoes, apples, pears--that is good for the earth, too. I reuse the crushproof plastic boxes that are the original packaging of some of those nice locally-grown cherry tomatoes, figs, etc. Not every city recycles these ubiquitous plastic clamshells. But I can at least reuse them instead of buying yet another container, and at the same time my lunch pear arrives at the office dent-free.

That is a great idea! I always feel bad to throw away those containers anyways! Maybe I should start using them also on my kid's lunchbox instead of spending money on the cute lunchbox I buy at the Japanese store... Maybe I can even embelish with stickers for my daughter!
